This basement was a blank canvas with masonry walls and an unfinished laundry area and workout room. We first sat down with the client to understand what they wanted to achieve by remodeling the space.
After deciding on a layout we proceeded to construction phase of the project, which included adding a bathroom and laundry room. To accomplish this, we had to break up the concrete to add the waste pipes and floor drain for other mechanicals. Our team built out walls for the new workout, media, game, kitchenette, bath, and laundry areas, including a pair of dramatic arches to separate the media and game rooms. We also removed the existing staircase and replaced it with a custom built stair.
The clients chose custom cherry columns and cabinets, which were designed, built, and installed by our team. We also constructed a unique swinging bookshelf to provide access to the underside of the stair. The cabinets were accented with granite tops and a natural stone and glass backsplash. The electrical was also a vital component of this project, as the client wanted a practical light design that also incorporated L.E.D. accent lights throughout the cabinetry and staircase.
This lower level was completed by adding a hard surface floor throughout the kitchenette, bathroom and laundry rooms, a rubber floor in the workout room, and carpet throughout the media and game areas. Although this project had its challenges, our team again went above and beyond to give the client everything they desired from the space. The end result is a beautiful and functional extra 1200 square feet of living space.
